About the Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst for a 6+ month contract with a government agency. This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence in the Midwest region with valid driver’s license. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Azure DevOps and business requirement gathering.

In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and documenting clear, unambiguous, and testable business requirements. You will need to thoroughly understand business needs to effectively communicate system functionality to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, project team members, and end users.

Key Responsibilities

The Business Analyst will work with the project team and stakeholders to examine existing and future-state business processes, data, and systems. This information guides the gathering of business requirements related to desired system functionality.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (on-site presence required)

Location: Midwest region (valid driver’s license required)

Visa Restrictions: H1B and CPT candidates are not eligible for this position

Required Tool: Experience with Azure DevOps is mandatory

Key Responsibilities

  • Document business requirements that are clear, explicit, testable, and satisfy business needs in accordance with standard templates and adherence to agency policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Facilitate requirement gathering meetings to identify impacted business processes and document project business requirements
  • Develop and maintain the project backlog during Agile projects and work with the product owner to set priorities throughout the project duration
  • Monitor requirements process to maintain adherence to the objectives set for the project
  • Understand high-level information governance objectives and ensure appropriate stakeholder inclusion regarding data requirements
  • Assist with the appropriate resolution of critical IT issues as it pertains to the BA role
  • Help gather information and analysis for Build vs. Buy project decisions
  • Understand project-specific benefits and related impact of changes to project scope or business requirements
  • Ensure all required project deliverables that are the responsibility of the BA are completed, reviewed, and approved
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure alignment between business requirements and project execution
  • Work directly with project team including UI/UX designers, tech leads, solution architects, database administrators, developers, QA testers, and technical writers

Required Skills & Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • 5 years' experience with As-Is and To-Be process flows or equivalent business/IT process flows
  • 5 years' experience collecting and documenting requirements, preferably a combination of Waterfall and Agile methodology
  • 3 to 5 years' experience writing detailed Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • 3 to 5 years' experience with Microsoft Office including Visio (for process flow creation)
  • 3 to 5 years' experience using Azure DevOps or similar Agile tools
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Valid driver's license
